MODIS 200 x 200 km Subsets
The MODIS data available for the EOS Validation Core Sites are 200km x 200km* subsets extracted from the original 1200km x 1200km MODIS tiles. The decision to produce MODIS subsets over the validation sites was based on the need for convenient access to high temporal resolution data. The subset data sets contain daily and multi-day composites of MODIS data.
The subsets are stored at the LP DAAC, and are openly available in HDF format via ftp download links. Users are encouraged to visit the MODIS Product Quality Documentation, provided by the Land Data Operational Product Evaluation (LDOPE) facility. More information for the MODIS land products can be found at: the LP DAAC, or the NSIDC DAAC for the snow and sea ice products.
An explanation of the subset file naming convention can be found here.
Text files containing the bounding coordinates for the Core Site subsets have been provided by John Hodges/Grace Smith at BU.
*Subsets for the ARM/CART, Cascades, and Wisconsin sites are slightly larger to accommodate multiple locations with active validation work in the area.
